Microsoft SkyDrive Application for Windows
Microsoft followed the trend set by Ubuntu One and Google Drive by creating an app which will allow users to upload their files to the cloud drive by using a sync folder. Since I’m a student, Microsoft gave me a 25GB of free space storage, so that’s a big plus over the 5Gigs offered by Google Drive and 2Gigs offered by Ubuntu One.
On the upload rates, Microsoft SkyDrive Folder is much slower than Google Drive, but a lot faster than the online application on skydrive.live.com. I managed to upload a 200MB file with an average speed of 3.5mbps. That’s 400KB/second, twice as much as the online application and 60% slower than the Google Drive folder.
You can download the application from microsoft.com and it comes preinstalled with Windows 8.
